John Poulten, chairman of Poulten & Graf Ltd and joint chairman of Poulten & Graf Gmbh, was installed as master of the Worshipful Company of Glass Sellers of London, at a dinner in Stationers’ Hall, London on the 12th of December.

The Worshipful Company of Glass Sellers of London received its charter in 1664. It was initially founded to regulate the Glass Selling and Pot Making industries within the City of London.

Today the role of the Livery Company is to maintain cordial relationships within the company, the City and the wider glass industry, to stimulate interest in glass and all its aspects, to carry out charitable works with the emphasis on education, to maintain the company’s traditions, values and customs, to prepare pastoral care for members in distress and to support the Lord Mayor and the corporation of the City of London.

John had the unique experience of performing the ceremony to welcome both of his sons, David and Michael as new Freemen of the Livery on the same occasion as being installed as the new Master.

Another milestone of 30 years’ service has been reached by three long serving staff at Poulten and Graf Ltd

Alderman Dr Andrew Parmley became the first Glass Seller to take office as the 689th Lord Mayor of London at the silent ceremony at the Guildhall on 11 November 2016.

The new Lord Mayor presided over the spectacular Lord Mayor’s Show on 12^th November where the procession from The Mansion House to the Aldwych included 180 horses and 164 vehicles and also involved members of the armed forces and London Fire Brigade which celebrates its 150^th anniversary.

The Worshipful Company of Glass Sellers of London participated with glass sellers’ liverymen accompanying our float a “carriage and glass slipper”.

The theme of the float was “Glass – not just for slippers” and featured a carriage and glass slipper with roundels surrounding the float, each illustrating different applications of glass.

Crowds lined the streets for the world-famous annual procession which had around 7,000 people taking part this year and culminated in a spectacular firework display between Blackfriars and Waterloo bridges.

VOLAC Pasteur pipettes made of borosilicate glass are new in the product range of Poulten & Graf. The Pasteur pipettes are made in the UK and are available in the lengths of 150 mm and 230 mm.

This allows the user of the VOLAC Pasteur pipettes a wider field of application where minimal thermal expansion, high thermal shock resistance and high chemical resistance is required.
